ainiCalifornia Nursery collaborates with local community organizations to amplify existing nature-based programming in Los Angeles County.
Native plants need people.
People need native plants.
Informed by Shou’s immigrant experience of finding ecological belonging in California in his late 20’s - we recognize the mental and spiritual benefits of connecting with our ecological neighborhood as 1st and 2nd generation immigrants.
To improve native plant access for the South San Gabriel Valley communities, we’ve host 4 cutting propagation workshops between 12/2025 and 2/2026 - and have plenty more on the way!
1 Free propagation workshops
2 Free native plant distributions
Distributed through tabling, direct outreach, neighbors on walks, and supporting local habitat restoration efforts all grown in a urban backyard micro-nursery.
Made possible through generous nursery pot donations by individual community members and organizations (Sunshine Preserve, Audubon Center at Debs Park).
Between 9/2025 - 2/2026, we distributed 500+ free native plants to members of the SGV community.
3 School native plant garden installation and education
Every time a new native plant garden is born in a school, a more ecologically connected universe awakens into being.
In collaboration with Studio REVOLÚ, we installed a native plant garden planned and mapped by student-led design at Price Maude Elementary School in Downey, CA.
4 Native plant garden rescue
When we heard about a native plant garden was planned for destruction from Seed to Landscape and Wild Yards Project - we rolled out our propagation workshop kit to give them a new chance at life.
In a time where native plants remain misunderstood by many, ainiCalifornia nursery aspires to be a rapid response resource for community native plant gardens in need of evacuation from demolition.
